Committees

These are the committees defined within ISA Michigan. Click the view members link or the committee name to see a list of committee members. Education Committee
Design and develop continuing education for ASM members and other industry stakeholders on an annual basis through ASM's annual events and create new events as needed. Education will include, but is not limited to, topics pertaining to Plant Health Care, Climber, Municipal and Utility professionals. Examples of Annual events include, but are not limited to:ArborCon, Fall Conference, EHAP, Aerial Rescue, Basic Certified Arborist Prep Course. In addition, this Committee will assist in promoting the ISA Certified Arborist Exams. All volunteers will be onsite to assist with ArborCon and Fall Conference.
Membership Committee
Create and implement a membership plan to retain current members and increase the membership. Review membership benefits program and approve new programs/make recommendations to the ASM Board of Directors on new or changes to existing benefits or non-dues revenue programs for ASM members and their employees.
Sponsorship Committee
Generate revenue for ASM educational events through support from the vendor community and provide appropriate value added benefits for their financial support. In addition, all volunteers will be onsite to assist with ArborCon and Fall Conference. Works in conjunction with the Education Committee
Oak Wilt Coalition
the Oak Wilt Coalition is a partnership between private, nonprofit and governmental organizations. Led by the Arboriculture Society of Michigan (ASM), the partnership includes representatives from Michigan State University, Michigan Departments of Natural Resources and Agriculture and Rural Development, Releaf Michigan, Michigan Forest Association, electric utilities and private companies.
Awards
Recommend to the Board of Directors a program for Association-wide awards & honors; establish the name of the award and criteria for each award; review and recommend to the Executive Director changes to the recognition ceremony and the promotion of the awards and the recipients; elect according to the criteria stated for each award and report to the Board of Directors the selection of recipients.
Michigan Tree Climbing Championship (MTCC)
Plan, promote and execute the annual Michigan Tree Climbing Championship (MTCC) event. The MTCC Committee shall ensure the Michigan TCC is staged in accordance with the current International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC) rules and procedures. The TCC Committee will select the TCC Chair, subject to approval by the board.
